The case study

From a 90-day windowto a body of work.

We designed and built the entire onboarding, KYC, and first-deposit flow in a single 11-week sprint. Lumen Pay now onboards more freelancers per week than its three nearest competitors combined. Below is the long version — the brief, the approach, and the numbers we put on the wall after launch.

Lumen Pay had four months of runway and a clear, terrifying KPI: 100k verified signups before the next raise. The incumbent neobanks were a flow you apologised for, not a flow you recommended.

We rebuilt onboarding around three guilty-pleasure taps and zero financial jargon. KYC was redesigned as a single full-bleed camera view, the first deposit as one playful split-pane, and the home screen as a calm, personal ledger — not a feature list.

180,000 verified signups in 90 days, a 4.8 App Store rating, and a Series A in the can. The internal team kept the new motion system and now ships flows themselves.

The receipts

Numbers, not adjectives.

Four metrics the client agreed to put on the wall. Verified internally before the launch, verified again at the 90-day mark.

Tools, chosen on purpose.

Every technology on the list earned its place in the build — chosen for the constraint, not the trend.

How we ran it

Four pillars,one crew.

Strategy

We sat with their team, walked every existing flow, and wrote the brief on day three.

Design system

A small, opinionated component set the whole team could ship from on day one.

Engineering

Senior crew, weekly demos, real test coverage, and a deploy pipeline the team kept after handoff.

Launch + handoff

Monitored for two weeks post-launch, then handed the keys over with a runbook the team could read in a coffee.

They didn't ship a feature, they shipped a feeling. The new flow is the reason we kept our independence.
